*****Update******

9/02/2006 update - This is an update against the latest FAA 5010 data base.  There were some additions (darker green color in the first column), a couple of closures and then found one that had been previously considered closed that are apparently still active.  For those two, the status was changed from closed to active.  One field has had a name change to Ozark Regional (previously Baxter County Regional - code BPK).  Also some corrections to typos and applied the same rule that is on other data bases as to the source naming convention used in the first column.  These are:

Memphis Sectional Aeronautical Chart (SAC) is listed as: MEM SAC

Little Rock SAC - earlier generation (up to the conversion in the 1968-1971 period) is listed as: LR SAC R-6

Kansas City SAC is listed as: KC SAC

Tulsa SAC - earlier generation is now listed as: Tulsa SAC S-6

Shreveport SAC earlier generation is now listed as: SHREV SAC Q-6

11/3/05 - update incorporating new data and fixing some errors.

This is the initial release of the Arkansas data base.   Work is continuing on this data base and changes and corrections will be made from time to time.  These data bases are works in progress.

An interesting item in developing this data base is the fact that Arkansas is the first state I have compiled this information for that has more airfields open than inactive/closed.

As per the other data bases, helicopter fields are not normally entered into this data base unless something unique and would be included.  Ultra-light airfields that are less than 1000 feet in length or normally not included either.

This is the abridged version of the Arkansas main data base.  All airfields are presented with earliest and latest entries along with anything that helps to understand the history of the airfield (name changes, special information, etc.).  The unabridged version is a very large excel spreadsheet and is currently approximately 1.0MB in size with over 3,500 entries in it.  Entries can vary from a single entry for an airfield to multiple entries, in chronological order, for an airfield (especially where name changes or operational status varied.
