this is charted on only Houston TACs, I don't know when it started. It appears on the 1995 NAPP/USGS aerial
photograph. Appearance would lead me to think it was there for some time. However, Houston is spreading out and doubt

I think this shopping center was built about 2004-05. Thus, this has been closed earlier -
probably early 2000s. Has been removed from FAA 5010 data base 12/2007. Will check the 2008
Houston TAC to see if they get it off the chart too. |

is confusion in this area during the 1940s and early 1950s. The first "civil" airport I have
is listed as "Killeen" and is located where the field called
"Moyer" existed. Later - a
bit to the SSE of this field - "Moyer Aux" opened. Both Moyer and Moyer Aux were listed the
elevation as 833 ft. First entry fois
airfield. Opened late 1945 or early

History
background. This airfield started off
as Moyer Aux field in the 1950 time frame.
It was later renamed Reed in about 1954. Then the name was changed to
Skylark in 1958 which lasted till 1964.
By about 1966, the name was again changed to Killeen Municipal Airport
name. There are two entries, in 1946
and 1949 where the charts list it as Killeen.
Most recently, the name returned to Skylark! Very confusing |
