Located 62 miles north northeast of the town of Kingman, Arizona."  Actually it is almost due north of Kingman.  A bit of the confustion is the spelling of "pierce".  It is now being spelled "pearce".  There is another oddity with this airfield.  It was not charted are in directories from 1942 till 1947.  Either it was inactive/closed or very limited usage, by the AAF but it was not an auxiliary for the AAF.

Re-named Higley Field a few months later. In February 1942, it was named Williams Field after Charles L. Williams, Arizona aviator killed in a plane crash in 1927. During its operation, Williams offered twin-engine, bombardier, single-engine and four-engine aircraft training. At the end of the war, radar observers were trained there. Williams trained both Chinese and American cadets.  Continued on till about 2000 when it was part of the force reduction processes.
